
CHAGFORD SHOW RULES FOR ALL CLASSES
GENERAL RULES OF THE SOCIETY
Applicable to all Classes and Sections unless otherwise stated.
1. The Committee reserves the right to withhold any prize or prizes should they consider the exhibit to be of insufficient merit or prize winners fail to parade as requested, also the right to withdraw or delete any classes in the Schedule for any reason or circumstances they may arise, or in the event of there being one entry only. Such deletion may be put into effect by the Secretary.
2. The decision of all the Referees in all cases of dispute is final and exhibitors enter on this understanding.
3. Any entry may be refused should it be considered the exhibitor or exhibitors are not eligible
to compete in a class or classes or resident in the district.
4. All horses, Sheep and Cattle must be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor, at least 56 days prior to Show Day.
5. In the event of any dispute or protest, all such protests must be handed to the Secretary in writing immediately the dispute occurs, together with a deposit of £5 to be returned only if the protest is upheld and in
any case not later than 4p.m. on the day of the Show.
6. In the event of a tie for any Special Prize awarded on points, such prize will be given to the
exhibitor having made the largest number of entries.
7. The Committee accepts no responsibility for any loss or accident that may occur to either exhibitors spectators
or members of the general public at the Show, and entries are accepted on this condition.
8. No exhibits will be allowed to leave the Showground before 4p.m. unless a written permit is given by the Secretary.
9. All entries accompanied by the appropriate fees must be sent to the Secretary by Monday 14th July 2008. No entries will be accepted unless accompanied by the appropriate fee and no entries will be accepted on the field nor will substitutions or alterations to the printed catalogue be allowed (except for Gymkhana, Jumping , Dartmoor Derby and Handy Pony).
10. No entries whatsoever will be accepted after the closing date except where otherwise stated. This rule will be strictly adhered to.
11. The Chief Stewards and Class Stewards accept entries only under their own discretion.
SPECIAL RULES applying to LIGHT HORSES and SPORTS CLASSES.
1. The District comprises the parishes of Chagford, Drewsteignton, Gidleigh, Manaton, Spreyton, Cheriton Bishop, Lustleigh,
Moretonhampstead, North Bovey, Throwleigh, South Tawton and an area within half a mile of the Bridge at Postbridge.
2. Any protest must be made to the Secretary at one with a deposit of £5, to be returned only in case protest is upheld.
3. All horses and ponies to be bona-fide property of the owner one month previous to Monday 8th July 2009.
4. Anyone on a horse at an affiliated show must eaer a hard hat and ride with numbers to correspond with programme. Spiked shoes must not be worn for gymkhana classes. A Skull Cap or a hat and safety harness according to BSI Standard 4472 or 6473 must be worn by ALL competitors in the jumping phase of Working Hunter Classes. Skull caps must have a navy blue or black cover. The following general regulation to be included in prizes schedules and show catalogues.
‘The Organisers of this show have taken reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present.
For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organisers and all the Officials and Stewards’.5. All horses to be measured on the field and catchweights for all races.6. No third prize unless four or more runners or exhibitors.7. The Committee will not be responsible for accidents.8. All dogs to be kept on lead at all times 9. All Native Ponies to be registered with their respective stud books. 10. Handlers/Riders must be in control of their animals to the best of their ability at all times.

RULES GOVERNING ADMISSION TO SHOWGROUND
All entries MUST be accompanied by the correct fee together with a STAMPED ADDRESSED
ENVELOPE for the return of RIDING NUMBERS AND FREE ENTRY PASSES.
Every exhibitor will be entitles to one free pass for his or her stock carrying vehicle and one free pass for him or
herself. Additional personal passes for exhibitors’ guests will be issued at the rate of 1 for each £12.00 in entry fees.
There will be no refunds given. NO S.A.E. MEANS NO RIDING NUMBERS AND NO FREE PASSES.
Jumping, Gymkhana and The Dartmoor Derby are the only Classes that can be entered on the day of the Show.
No LATE entries will be accepted after the closing date of 13t h JULY 2009
